After beginning his career working as a trial lawyer defending criminal cases in Alachua and Levy Counties, Mr. Hutson took a position with a Gainesville civil law firm handling serious personal injury and wrongful death matters, primarily defending these claims against other persons and insurance companies. During his time with that firm, he acted as lead counsel in a few week-long jury trials, and actively participated in several others. Mr. Hutson has tried civil cases in Alachua, Putnam and Suwannee Counties. He has the experience necessary for properly evaluating and handling injury cases pre-suit through trial, and has important insight as to how liability insurance carriers evaluate personal injury matters and expect them to be presented. He has also attended numerous mediation conferences to settle complex personal injury disputes prior to trial. Prior to leaving that firm, Mr. Hutson litigated a serious injury case on an injured person's behalf and discovered that advocating for such a person was much more to his liking than arguing against them.
Mr. Brockway has been handling serious and catastrophic personal injury cases since 1997. He has personally tried injury cases to juries in Alachua, Bradford, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Hernando, Marion, Orange, Seminole, and Union Counties. He has also argued appeals to the First and Fifth District Courts of Appeal. His cases have included auto negligence, "bad faith" insurance disputes, wrongful death, slip and fall, and premise liability matters.
Mr. Brockway is Board Certified as an expert in Civil Trial Law by the Florida Bar. Established in 1982, by the Florida Supreme Court, board certification provides consumers with assurance in the selection of legal counsel. Certification is the highest level of recognition by the Florida Bar of the competence and experience of attorneys in the areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. There are currently 1,107 attorneys in Florida who are Board Certified in Civil Trial Law.
